IGF-1 LR3 (insulin-like growth factor-1 Long Arg3) is a synthetic 83-amino-acid analogue of human IGF-1, featuring a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension and an arginine-for-glutamic-acid substitution at position 3. These modifications reduce binding by IGF-binding proteins, extending half-life from roughly 20 minutes (native) to 20–30 hours in in-vitro models.

Native IGF-1 has a short half-life in culture because it is rapidly bound by IGFBPs. LR3's structural modifications allow it to evade these binding proteins, giving researchers a longer-acting tool for studying cellular proliferation, amino-acid transport and protein-turnover pathways.

Reconstitution & Storage

Because of its long 83-amino-acid chain, IGF-1 LR3 is often reconstituted in 0.6% acetic acid solution for longer-term stability, then diluted with bacteriostatic water as needed. Direct the needle against the inner vial wall; never shake or vortex. Roll gently until the solution is clear and uniform.
