Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino-acid analogue of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), with a trans-3-hexenoic acid group on the N-terminus that shields the sequence from dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) degradation. In laboratory settings it is studied as a longer-acting GHRH receptor agonist.
